On June 1, 2014, police in Houston, Texas arrested 18-year-old Douglas Flores and charged him with illegally possessing Alprazolam, an anti-anxiety drug.
On June 4, 2014, Flores pled guilty in Harris County Criminal District Court to possession of a controlled substance. He was placed on probation for one year.
In October 2014, the Harris County District Attorney's Conviction Review Unit was notified that lab tests performed on the tablets by the Houston Police crime laboratory were negative for the presence of any illegal drug.
The prosecution notified Flores's defense attorney and joined the defense in a motion to vacate Flores's conviction. On October 10, 2014, the motion was granted and the prosecution dismissed the charge.
