On May 10, 2014, police in Montgomery County, Texas arrested 32-year-old Milyn Pierce after seizing what they believed was a quantity of methamphetamine.
On June 5, 2014, Pierce pled guilty in Montgomery County Criminal District Court to possession of a controlled substance. She was sentenced to six months in Texas State Jail.
In October 2014, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office informed Pierce's attorney that a crime laboratory analysis of the substance seized from Pierce was negative for a controlled substance.
The prosecution joined the defense in requesting that the conviction be vacated. A trial judge recommended the conviction be vacated and Pierce was released. In November 2014, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals granted the writ and ordered the conviction set aside.
On January 8, 2015, the charge was dismissed.
